that would be interesting, a floating garden drmargy. Thanks for sharing that with us.

And thank you Mark for your comments. For me it's not been slugs or snails but caterpillars. But with the rain we've just had I expect to see the others out there too. I must keep a vigilant watch and will post new photos soon.

This year I had to plant my garden a little early. We typically plant like you did closer to Easter. We have a floating garden at our cabin on Powell Lake in British Columbia. If we plant at Easter we get vegetables when we return in late May. This year the birds, Oregon Juncos, discovered our planting beds with seeds the day after planting. That was quite a battle, but I think we won. If you want to take a look go to http://powellriverbooks.blogspot.com/search/label/Gardening. drmargy

Looks like we had the same thought about the same time, i started our little patch 2 weeks ago. I have never grown veggies before so it's all new to me. Most things seem to be doing O.K.
The ongoing battle with the slugs has stepped up a gear as they seem to be sending in the crack troops, still i check each night armed with my choppers and with the frogs to back me up we seem to be holding out own.
Cheers Mark
